2010 saw Renascence take 23 performers to the National Championships at the NIA, Birmingham.
It was a long tiring weekend with the incorporation of tumbling this year. However, we came away with some fabulous results.
Maisey Blake, our youngest performer in this year’s nationals lead Renascence through the fly-by, holding our banner. Toni-Jade Graham, Lilly Tozer,, Ellie Kaye, Bradley Hoyland,, Nick Winfield, Alice Tayler, Opal Dallard, Sian Griffith, put in performances to be proud of, completing both of their passes in their first DMT Nationals.
It was great to have Rhya back in the nationals team. Although Rhya was a podium winner in the Nationals on Trampoline in her younger years this was her first DMT nationals after a long break.
Although Harvey had disappointing nationals in many ways he finished on DMT by sticking his triple back which he competed for the first time. Unfortunately this years Nationals did not go to plan for Dina, however this did not stop her from being a tremendous support to the club.
A big well done to our girls DMT A-Team which took the silver medal, and they were, Celine Yeatman, Ella Mae Bolton, Rebecca Cresswell and Ellie Kaye. Rebecca was leading going into the final, but unfortunately a stumble on her double meant the title did not go to her this year, however a fantastic performance in both DMT and Trampoline, where she narrowly missed the final of the Nat C U13 Girls group. Rebecca and Ella Mae also paired up for the synchronised event putting in a solid performance finishing in 5th.
Fabulous performances by our Boys DMT team taking the silver medal, and then being promoted to Gold medal position. Well done to Bradley Hoyland, Matthew Dominey and Nick Winfield. Matthew also put in an excellent performance, making the final and finishing in 5th position.
Then we had some great sibling success. Phoenix Betts putting in her seasons best performance, with Shannon also doing the same to earn herself bronze medal in the FIB B Under 15 Girls DMT event.
The Mulcahy's really got it together when it mattered, with Emily finally in both Trampoline and DMT, finishing in 8th place in her trampoline event and 5th in DMT. Harriet also made the final in her trampoline event, finishing in 6th position.
There seems to be no stopping the Dallards. Jasper was our highest place Nationals finalist on the Trampoline taking 4th place, and if that wasn’t enough he took the gold medal position in the Under 15 FIG B DMT event. Surely this will secure him a place at the World Championships. Not to be beaten by her brother, after a slightly disappointing voluntary routine on trampoline which put her just outside of the final, Sapphire showed her amazing strength of character pulling out 2 amazing final passes and taking the Under 15 FIG B title on DMT. This would surely secure her a place at the World Championships as well.
Lets keep our fingers crossed for Shannon and Emily who could well be in line for a World Championship team slot, and also Ella Mae Bolton who has put in some consistent FIG B performances this year and is also in line for a World Championship selection.
That just leaves Rob and I to say a big well done to everyone for all their hard work and dedication through the ups and downs of the last yearJ. However we feel that the star of this years nationals was definitely Aarron Wake. Aarron has worked tirelessly in the last year for the club, giving us one of the largest DMT entries in this years national finals. We want to thank him for his initiative in leading the clubs Youth Opportunities Fund Bid, enabling us to have top quality DMT equipment for the performers to train on. Aarrons latest pursuit to raise money for the club was to train for the National Championships on DMT. Having qualified earlier in the season, Aarron had to take some time out of training for a prolapsed disc. However his dedication to the club and performers was unquestionable managing to continue his enthusiastic coaching style through the injury and the birth of his daughter Lani just 3 weeks ago.
Having managed to get himself fit to compete at the weekend, he not only made the final, but he won a third title for Renascence in the Over 15 Nat C DMT event.
