CONGRATULATIONS TO EMILY AND HARRIET MULCAHY FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC. READ THEIR STORY HERE AND WATCH ONE OF THEIR ROUTINES BELOW

On the 2nd of October we travelled to Kladno, near Prague in the Czech Republic to compete for Wales in the 37th Friendship Cup. We travelled from Bristol Airport on the Friday lunchtime and arrived late afternoon. After checking into the hotel and getting settled we only had about an hour to relax before we hopped on a bus to the sports centre where we trained for a couple of hours to get used to the trampolines and the hall. The training went really well for us; we did a few sets and vols and then warmed up some synchro with our partners, Sophie Lewis and Rhianna Andrew, ready for the next day. After just over an hours training we went back to the hotel, had food and then went to bed early because we had to be back at the leisure centre for 8.30 for another training session.

The first people from our team began competing at 11.30. I (Emily) was in the second flight to compete. Before competing we got a one touch warm up to get warm again and then had to go straight into competing our sets and vols. My set routine went really well and I scored a total of 24.8, which was really good for an international judging panel and the highest out of the girls on my team in my age group and a personal best. I then did an OK vol; though I could have done better it still secured me a place in the final in 6th.

Harriet was in the next flight in her age group. She also scored a personal best of 24.0 for her set and 29.6 for her vol, putting her in 10th place, which she was very chuffed with.

Sophie and I then did synchro, we did a solid set scoring 9.6 for our synchronisation and a solid vol scoring 9.4's for synchronisation which put us in 2nd going into the final.  Both mine and Harriet’s age group competed together for synchro. Harriet and Rhianna’s synchro was not the best they had competed but they finished in 14th place.

The finals were zeroed; I kept 6th after doing a not so good vol! And in synchro we finished in 2nd, though it would have been first if the final hadn't been from zero!

In the evening there was a banquet where everyone got to mix, relax, have fun and exchange facebook details.

On the whole it was a really good weekend and we learnt a lot from it! It was our first international abroad and we’re really happy with where we finished! It's been a learning curve for us and especially me (Emily) when it comes to competing because I didn't know who I was competing against or what to expect so it taught me to think only about what I was doing, and it also taught me that I need to get a better control over my nerves!

We’d love to do it again.
